The name comes from the first light of day — the hour before the world starts asking for things, when the day still belongs entirely to you. That’s the feeling we want our software to serve: a fresh start, taken seriously.
About the lab
Small on purpose. Independent by design. Built around one idea: software should serve the person using it.
Why we exist
A lot of modern software is built to capture you — your attention, your data, your habits. It’s very good at it, and it never asks what you actually want.
We started Early Light Labs to build the other kind: apps that take your side, help you follow through on the things you’ve decided matter, and then get out of the way. If an app of ours ever stops serving the person holding the phone, it’s broken — whatever the metrics say.
How we work
We’re self-funded and independent — no investors, no advertisers. The only people we answer to are the people who use what we make, and that shapes everything: the same small team designs, builds, and supports every app; we maintain what we ship for the long haul; and when an app of ours makes you a promise, the promise is kept in the code, not the fine print.
